Found this fantastic piece of Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew art sitting around in the deep, dark depths of my hard drive today. Sadly, I have no idea who the artist is. If anybody out there has any clue as to the artist's identity, please contact me. It looks like his name might be written on the lower right-hand side of the page, but I can't make it out.
Not sure if this is a spoof of another, more famous DC cover or not. The layout of the page screams Crisis on Infinite Earths to me. And I like that Swamp Thing is there in the lower left-hand corner, but why is he there? No idea. Not complaining, mind you. It does have me intrigued, though.
Phil Jiminez sig in the bottom right corner.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I talked to him on facebook yesterday and he confirmed it was his work. :) And I can't read that sig for the life of me, no matter how much I enlarge it.
ReplyDeleteTrying to track down a color version. Phil says there is one.
contact me at monitor_earthprime@yahoo.com I have one.
ReplyDeleteIt was in Wizard Magazine in the early 2000s. One of their April Fool's issues, I believe. That led to the appearance of Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew in the Teen Titans when Geoff Johns was writing the book (issues #31 and 32, I believe) and eventually to the bungled travesty that was "CC and the Final Ark".
