Well, it's been confirmed. Captain Carrot is in Grant Morrison's Multiversity limited series. And he even made the cover!
Although, I'm not sure why he looks like that. The solicitation says 'Captain Carrot like you've never seen him before'. Great, just damn great! Hey DC? How about you just put the classic version in there? Didn't you learn anything from the whole K'Rot fiasco? I guess not.
Oh well. I'll pick up the first issue at least.
Multiversity ships in August 2014.

The biggest adventure in DC’s history is here!
Join visionary writer Grant Morrison, today’s most talented artists, and a cast of unforgettable characters from 52 alternative Earths of the known DC Multiverse! Prepare to meet the Vampire League of Earth-43, the Justice Riders of Earth-18, Superdemon, Doc Fate, the super-sons of Superman and Batman, the rampaging Retaliators of Earth-8, the Atomic Knights of Justice, Dino-Cop, Sister Miracle, Lady Quark, the legion of Sivanas, the Nazi New Reichsmen of Earth-10 and the latest, greatest Super Hero of Earth-Prime: YOU!
Comprising six complete adventures – each set in a different parallel universe – plus a two-part framing story and a comprehensive guidebook to the many worlds of the Multiverse, THE MULTIVERSITY is more than just a multipart comic-book series. It’s a cosmos spanning, soul-shaking experience that puts YOU on the frontline in the Battle for All Creation against the demonic destroyers known as the Gentry!
In issue #1, pencilled by superstar artist Ivan Reis (AQUAMAN, JUSTICE LEAGUE), President Superman of Earth-23 uncovers a threat to all Reality so apocalyptic it will take a team of incredible heroes from across the Multiverse to face it – including Captain Carrot, like you’ve never seen him before!
But even with a multitude of alternate worlds to choose from, where every variation is possible, can anyone hope to prevail against the onslaught of ultimate evil and undying hatred – in the unstoppable form of a one-time cosmic defender with unimaginable powers?! Join us, if you dare, for the beginning of THE MULTIVERSITY!
(About damn time!)
I'm looking forward to this! Trying to keep expectations reasonable, so I don't end up hurt and disappointed, but looking forward to it. It's going to have Blue Beetle after all!
ReplyDeleteAnd I enjoyed the Justice Riders one-shot, looking forward to seeing the western League again too!
Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up too much for a nice treatment of Captain Carrot. And Blue Beetle (Ted) is one of the other reasons I'm looking forward to MULTIVERSITY!
DeleteSean, i just saw your comment today from an old posting of mine
ReplyDelete( http://romspaceknightart.blogspot.com/2013/11/the-custom-figure-thats-too-hot-to_9.html ) and leaving a comment here for you is probably the best way i can think of to reply. i had contacted the editor of Avengers Academy Bill Rosemann about that "he's dead" line and he said pretty much the same thing you did in your comment. but i didn't take any comfort in it we all know why Rom hasn't been back in the Marvel Universe since his last appearance at Rick Jone's wedding in HULK #418 (1994). but by stating he's dead it was like rubbing salt in the wound for long time Rom fans who are already ticked off about the legal red tape the character rights are caught up in. it was just one more part of the bad treatment all Rom related continuity marvel has attempted in the last decade or so. and what happened in Infinity #1 last year was just the latest example i don't by new marvel comics any more.
I hear ya. And I actually came here because I saw your comment on your blog. lol Yes, I do check it out from time to time. Keep up the good work. :)
Deletethanks, the blogging has slowed down in the past couple months but I'm still shooting to get a posting up once in a while. I tend to only notice comments left on the most recent postings when I saw yours it was complete random happenstance. next time you want to leave a comment on an old posting you might want to actually write the comment on a more recent one and refer to the date of the posting you're really talking about.
DeleteI was just going to e-mail you these images, but I couldn't find an e-mail address here. So they're at imagebam instead.
ReplyDeleteThe first 4 are from the DC Super-Pet Encyclopedia, and the following 2 are from Wizard 151. Obviously that joke article served as the rough draft for the story that later appeared in Teen Titans.
