The Return of Captain K'Rot...wait. What?

Keith Howell alerted me to this yesterday over on facebook, and Captain Carrot co-creator Scott Shaw has also been posting it. It's an interesting (or not, depending on how you look at it, or what it actually ends up being) little item that shows up in DC's solicitations for January 2013.

• LARFLEEZE steals the spotlight in his first ongoing series of backup stories! What happens when Larfleeze, the ultimate hoarder, is robbed...of everything!

So this new series spins out of the Green Lantern: New Guardians Annual #1, also on sale in January, and features amongst its many characters, a Captain K'Rot.

Um...what?

Is this the New 52 revamping our beloved character for the new universe? Is he still going to look like a Funny Animal, or will they screw him up and draw him realistically? Scott Kolins is on art duty, so I'm sure he's more than capable of keeping him looking Funny Animal-like, but who knows if he will. Hell, we don't even know if this Captain K'Rot guy is, in fact, based on Captain Carrot. Part of me is hoping it is, and the other part is rolling his eyes, hugging his knees to himself and muttering, "Why? WHY do you have to do this?" all while rocking back and forth in the corner of the room.

And, if it is New 52 Captain Carrot, are we going to see the rest of the Zoo Crew? Only time will tell. I'll be picking up the book regardless. They just cancelled Blue Beetle, ending in January, so I need something new to add to the pull list. This will obviously go well with the other four Green Lantern titles, all of which I am currently reading.

So keep your eyes open for this new title, on sale at your LCS January 16, 2013.

  1. I have to ask, why DO you have to pick it up? Sorry, don't see the need to support something that obviously does not sound like it is respectful of the source material... if that is what it is,

  2. Because I'm curious. And it is a Green Lantern-related title, and I love the Green Lantern titles. If it sucks, trust me, it'll be dropped faster than you can say "HOT POTATO!"

Besides, we don't know yet if it is going to be disrepectful to the character of Captain Carrot. And I didn't say I NEEDED to pick up the book, just that I needed something to replace Blue Beetle on my pull list. I WANT to check out this book, and due to the Green Lantern connection, I would have anyways.

Thanks for checking out the page. :)

  3. Besides, this is a Captain Carrot blogsite. I'm here to report on all things Captain Carrot. The good and the bad. I can't really do that objectively if I don't read the source material.
